Description
you can see how much "draw" you can acheive with the metal. The blade was forged from only about 1/3 of the RR spike. It is considered a "high carbon" railroad spike, but really its borderline medium carbon (.3% carbon content approx.), which still allows for some heat treating and tempering to be effective. This is high for a RR spike, but they need to have some softness or flexibility to work properly in the tracks. Anyway, pointless rambling concluded.
